Los homenajes a Peter Mayhew, el eterno Chewbacca

En las últimas horas, la comunidad de Star Wars se ha encontrado con la triste noticia del fallecimiento de Peter Mayhew, el carismático actor británico que interpretó al fiel compañero de Han Solo, Chewbacca, en la trilogía original, así como La Venganza de los Sith y El Despertar de la Fuerza.

La familia lo hacía saber en la noche de este pasado jueves 2 de mayo, anunciando que el actor había fallecido el 30 de abril, en su casa y junto a su familia.

Peter Mayhew ya es uno con la fuerza, y la comunidad no ha podido más que rendirse ante el mejor co-piloto de toda la galaxia. Compañeros, amigos, y devotos seguidores, ya inundan las redes con todo tipo de mensajes, e inevitables comparaciones con la maravillosa Carrie Fisher o el fantástico Kenny Baker, reunidos ahora en una galaxia muy muy lejana a bordo de su particular Halcón Milenario.

We were partners in film and friends in life for over 30 years and I loved him. He invested his soul in the character and brought great pleasure to the Star Wars audience. Chewbacca was an important part of the success of the films we made together. He knew how important the fans of the franchise were to it’s continued success and he was devoted to them. I and millions of others will never forget Peter and what he gave us all. My thoughts are with his dear wife Angie and his children.
